They Like Their Greens!

These red-brown chickens have a knack for their greens! These three-week old chicks are enjoying their supplement of chopped highland pechay which they are aggressively picking the moment the tray was left on the flooring. Free-range chicken strains (the colored ones) retained their natural ability to forage for food found in their ranging area and are more adapted to free-range conditions compared to industrial white broilers. With no history of being given greens until this picture was taken, they did a pretty good job of liking their veggies! (a lot of parents wish their children can easily like veggies like these chicks do) Free-range chickens are like lawn mowers when they are given access to areas with vegetation. As long as the leaves, bark, roots, fruits, and flowers fancy their taste buds (yes, they do have taste buds), these will be going down their throats! Supplementing your free-range chicken's diet with vegetation is essential for  a healthier and tastier meat!
